With his strong background in media and marketing, Xavier Berenger joined Mediabrands’ team as an external consultant in September 2021.
The new Strategy Director already has an appreciation for the culture and values at Mediabrands. “There is a great deal of respect, honesty and transparency here. The hierarchy is rather flat and every team member I work with so far demonstrates a solid dose of entrepreneurship, no matter their position, age or level of seniority. ‘Mediabrandies’ know their industry inside out and are very much true to themselves. I also feel that everybody has the opportunity to try out different things or to grow within the company, whether horizontally or vertically.”
Becoming part of the team was easy. “Given our shared passion for media and the brands we work with, we were able to dive straight in. Soon enough, we noticed that we spoke the same language and had similar ways of thinking. As a result, things have really clicked since starting my mission here.” With regard to the level of expertise already in place, Xavier simply hopes he can add to the team:
“My biggest weapon is my level of curiosity, as is my will to deliver – as part of a strong team – the very best to clients. I try to identify how I can add value, whether by helping others grow further or by adding my thoughts and voice to the issues raised.”
If other colleagues from outside the department haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting Xavier, they most certainly will soon, as he tends to get about a lot. “I don’t particularly enjoy staying in the same place all the time. More than just to stretch, it’s an opportunity to refresh my mind and check in on people, say hello and share ideas. In my view, this also has to do with respect. You can’t just communicate via email. If you want to see things as they really are, it’s important to foster, where possible, more personal relationships.”
Xavier can also frequently be found on the tennis court and the golf course: “Since I was little, these have always been my two favorite sports. I much prefer being outdoors, being in nature. When playing, although I like to compete (and win), I also enjoy spending time with others and fighting my own personal battle.”
